Today I want to share my journey with fake eyelashes. I was super down on myself about 3 years ago and decided to try false lashes. As a Mom, I feel like I am constantly being judged – am I disciplining right, am I feeding my kids right, do I look a mess or am I a mom that looks “put together”…. All this pressure and being pregnant with baby #2, I made a decision to get eye lash extensions. I absolutely LOVED them from the first moment I looked in the mirror after getting them done.

At the time I was pretty steady on t-shirts and decided I would pay for these from my “side gig” and keep them up! I loved waking up every morning and seeing myself in the mirror. I didn’t ever put anything on make-up wise other than a little lipstick and went about my day. No foundation, no liner, no nothing! And I wear lipsense, so that was a 1 time application and done for the DAY!

About 6 months in, my lashes started buggin, they were itching, they were not looking as great. We kept adjusting which lashes we were using on me (D curl, length, thickness, blah blah) but I wasn’t happy – I moved to another lash consultant who used mink (no judging here, I didn’t know all the things I know now about them) and started paying $75 a lash session (without tip here ladies)…. I wanted them and justified it. I was going every 2-3 weeks. Still felt like I NEEDED them…. by this time I had Baby #2 and was tired ALL the time. I needed to “feel pretty” and that was my vice. they were ALWAYS on point! Goofing, beaching, waking in the middle of the night to feed a baby, sweating profusely- still looked good no matter what!!

I switched up lash places a couple time since that one and would up at one that was $50 every 2 weeks and super busy… I could hardly book an apt, I was bouncing from person to person just to get in and they really weren’t very nice to me when I was in. At this point I had done my lashes for over 2 years and decided I WAS DONE!
I was scared tho, These had been “my lashes” for over 2 years…. What was I going to look like? How was I going to survive without them on?

I decided to use my last $$ in my t-shirt bus profit to buy the Rodan and Fields Lash boost… I had only ever heard and seen great things. And I knew my lashes were no longer healthy as the last place I was going to they kept coming out in clumps (stuck together) which means they were not doing a good job and they were damaging my natural lashes.
I started using the lash boost and let the lash extensions fall out naturally.

About 2 weeks in they started looking really bad, so I decided to get the false lashes off. I did loads of research here and decided that using Coconut Oil was the route I was going to go. What these blogs and videos don’t tell you is that holding coconut oil on your eyelid for a period of time that it takes to release the false lashes can cause your pores to clog up. It’s called Blepharitis – Don’t google it, its UGLY! Luckily in my case I could feel like there was something wrong, the eyelids were red/purple in color and swollen and felt hot. I was able to do hot compresses on the eyelids for 15 mins at a time 4-5 times a day for a few days and get rid of it. It was NOT fun! On top of the fact that I now looked like I had ZERO eye lashes. P.s. I would like you to try to get a pic of your eyelashes without making yourself look crazy or like a ogre š

The photo above is WITH MASCARA on!! They were GONE š¦ this is June- 2 weeks into using a Rodan and Fields… And I felt like an ugly troll. Trust me ladies I was super upset and avoided the mirror with all my might. I just pushed through this point tho. I used the Rodan and Fields – I took Biotin vitamins and I ate healthy. You know that your hair health can be tied to your nutrition? I read that Avocado toast (which was already my lunch go to) helps create a healthy hair base, so I started that back up for a couple weeks.

Consistancy is key here. Above you see the top 2 pics are the beginning of June and the bottom 2 are near the end of June… I started to see the little lashes start to GROW š I was soo proud! And relieved! You know that you can cause permanent hair damage to your lashes if they are being lashed wrong? And I definitely felt like the last place I was going to was lashing them WRONG.

I was still upset with them because they weren’t what I was used to. You couldn’t see them from far away. You can barely see them in the photo above. But what is really important in that photo? My eyelashes? No that beautiful snuggly baby and that goofy man that I love!

So here I am 2 months into using Rodan and fields no lash extensions and I AM OBSESSED with my lashes!!! Like look at these gorgeous things!! Just know that consistency with the lash boost and vitamins- you can top get eyelashes that look like fake ones! These are all mine! All natural!! Now I don’t know what I will do when I run out of lash boost but I will cross that bridge when I get there šš

Here are my final results! Top is pre false lashes coming off– next pic is week 2 no false lashes or any lashes š last 2 pics are week 7!! Pretty amazing!!! I went from ZERO lashes to lashes longer than my false ones! There are a few patches that are having a tough time- so I will continue on using the lash boost heavier in those areas.
And for a tip, don’t open the tube and use the wand- it bubbles in the tube and starts to seep out and you lose product! And that stuff is expensive! I barely pull the wand up, slide my finger on the white stick, and apply with my finger to the lash line.
No judgment here on anyone who does lashes – I had them for 3 years!! Do what makes you feel beautiful! But also, know that you are beautiful for just being you!!
